OES undertakes extensive research and modelling to acquire a comprehensive understanding of emerging trends, market demand, program viability and the specific needs of each online student demographic. All partner programs enabled by OES are designed and underpinned by real time qualitative and quantitative research, robust data and detailed analytics.

Learning analytics

OES has sophisticated learning analytics capability. Our data source aggregates data from the Student Management System, Virtual Learning Environment, Customer Relationship Management platform, and the Student Portal, ensuring that every student interaction is captured. This data is then used to inform and improve multiple aspects of the student experience.

Data-driven engagement

OES is aware that strong student engagement is a critical metric for student retention. Comprehensive student data is used to build propensity models which identify students whose behaviours are giving early signals that they may be at risk of disengagement or failure. OES has a dedicated team of student coaches who are then alerted and intervene with one or more of our tested and evaluated intervention strategies.

Learner engagement dashboards are also provided to teaching staff, providing a real-time snapshot of the activity and progress of each student in their class, and enabling them to provide targeted support.

Continuous improvement

Regular feedback is collected from students and staff to identify further ways in which the student experience can be improved. This includes online student surveys, face-to-face student user testing and interviews with teaching staff.

Enhancing the learning experience Evidenced by data such as click throughs, view rates, time spent on page, heat mapping, participation in activities, submission rates, and much more, OES can isolate which elements of the learning materials result in high levels of engagement. Through a process of continuous improvement, OES ensures learning materials are designed to achieve student learning outcomes.

Our data also ensures that learning technologies are optimised for the modern day student. Technologies are selected and customised to minimise user experience challenges and maximise mobile learning opportunities.

Informing course viability OES uses unique global insights made available via the SEEK network to inform market demand and course viability. These insights include employment trends, in-demand skill sets and emerging fields of employment.
